A guide for new Dungeon Rush players covers resource collection, loot management, idle progression, settings...

According to a beginner's guide from Pocket Gamer, new players of the idle RPG Dungeon Rush need active strategies to help their hero survive the endless dungeon crawl. Simply letting the game run will not lead to significant progress. The auto-battling is part of what makes the experience click, but the gameplay loop never ends as long as your hero keeps charging into battle.

Tip 1: Tap the Flying Chest

Early resources are scarce, making flying treasure chests a critical source of items. Players must tap these chests when they appear on screen to receive random rewards. These can include precious Gems for unlocking Mastery levels (essentially skill upgrades with bonuses) or vital loot boxes, which are the lifeblood of your adventure.

Tip 2: Prioritize Loot Boxes Over Idle Progression

Loot boxes are essential for survival and progression, far more effective than relying on idle rewards alone. If you leave everything running on its own for hours, you'll find your hero hasn't progressed much and repeats the same level. Leveling up unlocks the Auto-Loot feature in the Mastery tab, allowing players to set parameters for keeping or selling gear of certain rarities as you go along. Equipping higher-value gear increases combat power and survivability. This is the only way to get past mini-bosses that one-shot you, so prioritize Auto-Loot and use your Gems here.

Tip 3: Level Up While You're Away

The idle progression system is best used for gaining experience points and leveling up. Each time you grind, you gain XP to fill a bar. Leaving the game and returning after hours allows for this passive "grinding." Key features unlock at specific levels: Level 3 unlocks the Store for purchasing resources; Level 4 unlocks raid dungeons to farm resources like loot boxes and summons; Level 5 unlocks Companions (essentially pets); Level 15 unlocks Events (PvP and Boss Rush); and Level 20 unlocks the Cultist Ritual dungeon.

Tip 4: Keep the Vibration On

Keeping the Vibration setting on is a strategic advantage. Once Auto-Loot is unlocked, the phone vibrates to alert the player when high-rarity gear is acquired. The system then prompts a decision to equip or sell the item. The guide's author called this "seemingly insignificant feature" very useful, especially when not paying full attention.

Tip 5: Ads Are Everything

Advertisement offers are fundamental in Dungeon Rush due to scarce resources. The guide states there is no way around it - ads are everything. Ads can double rewards, increase summons, and provide extra pickaxes. Summons are particularly important for acquiring Companions, which add DPS, provide healing, or deal area-of-effect damage. While summons can be farmed in the Zombie Outbreak dungeon, ads are needed to increase the entry keys for that activity.

The automated gameplay can create a false sense of security, so active management is required. The guide concludes that the game's minimalist aesthetics are designed to keep players focused.
