Major mobile game publishers are testing numerous titles in limited regional releases ahead of potential global launches. Supercell, EA, and Major Publishers
Supercell is opening a beta test for its long-awaited action RPG, Project Rise, from August 19 to September 2. The game is a spin-off from Clash of Clans, originally revealed as Clash Heroes in 2021.
EA's PopCap studio is edging closer to a global release for Plants vs. Zombies 3: Evolved. The merge-based title is currently soft-launched on iOS and Android in the Philippines, Indonesia, the UK, and several other markets.
Tencent's Level Infinite has a new survival game, Crownstone Survival, seemingly slated for a soft launch in the Philippines, France, Indonesia, Türkiye, and the US on Google Play.
Puzzle, Merge, and Casual Tests
Moon Active's latest physics puzzler, Royal Splash: Tower Blast, is available on Android and iOS in India and Israel.
Playrix has multiple titles in testing. These include the underwater match-3 game Aqua Match in 12 markets, the 'scapes game Austin's Odyssey on Google Play in Australia, Canada, India, and the US, the match-3 and merge-2 hybrid Match Around, the fantasy squad battler Questbound, and the decorating game Roomscapes.
King and Mojang soft-launched the puzzler Minecraft Blast in Malaysia and Canada on iOS, but it now appears to have been removed. An FAQ states the project is in "extremely early days."
Action, Shooter, and Sports Titles
Blizzard is in early development on Overwatch Rush, a top-down, mobile-exclusive hero shooter. AppMagic reports the iOS edition has registered over 10,000 downloads in the Philippines.
PlayStation Mobile's Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble, a multiplayer platformer arena shooter, is now playable in France. Developer Oh BiBi confirmed the launch. AppMagic says it is also live in Denmark, Finland, Indonesia, Norway, Sweden, and the Philippines, with pre-registration open.
Take-Two's Zynga has several titles in testing. NaturalMotion's CSR 3 is available in France, Italy, Malaysia, South Africa, and Indonesia on iOS and Android. Borderlands Mobile by NaturalMotion briefly appeared on iOS in the US before being removed but is reportedly still in development. Nordeus's soccer title Top Goal: Soccer Champion is in soft launch in 12 markets including Australia, Canada, and Mexico.
Other Notable Soft Launches
Meta's AI-powered minigame app, Pocket, has rolled out to US players, according to a TechCrunch report. It was previously only available in Brazil. The app lets users create brief games using AI prompts.
Fingersoft's Hill Climb Racing 3 has soft-launched on Google Play in the UK, Norway, Sweden, and Finland, introducing real-time multiplayer.
Scopely's turn-based WWE RPG, WWE Generations: Eras Collide, has soft-launched on iOS only in Ireland and the Philippines.
Sega's Rovio has multiple Angry Birds games testing: Angry Birds Match World on iOS in the Philippines, UK, Australia, Canada, and Finland; Angry Birds Rush on iOS and Android in the US and Latin America; and the puzzle-and-decorate game Bloom City Match in eight European and North American countries.
Miniclip has several tests live, including the Subway Surfers-themed Hoverboard Party on Android and iOS in the UK, Denmark, Italy, and Portugal, the open-world crime game Pure Crime: Gangster Shooting, the Splatoon-like Paint Brawl, and the war game Rival Nations on Android in several European countries.
Century Games appears to be preparing the merge game Frozen Manor: Merge Mystery for Android testing, while Garena's GTA-like Free City is registering downloads in the Philippines after an initial launch in Argentina. Limit Break's debut mobile game, the 3D arcade puzzler Puzzle Panic, is in a limited test on iOS in Singapore, New Zealand, and Australia.
