YouTube Playables Expands to Over 50 Markets with AI Builder
YouTube's instant-play gaming platform, Playables, is now available in more than 50 markets globally, offering web-based games without downloads.

YouTube Playables now operates in more than 50 markets, including the EU and the Nordics, after launching in a handful of countries in 2024. The platform offers instant web games directly within the YouTube app or website, requiring no installation. YouTube gaming partnerships manager Joel Jansson announced the expansion on LinkedIn, confirming the broader availability. Google has been trialling these instant-play web games on YouTube since 2023.
Instant web-based gameplay
Playables run directly in the YouTube app or website without any download, using standard web APIs such as WebGL and Canvas. This allows users to play instant games without installing anything. The initial Playables trial included developers like Rovio, Voodoo, Zeptolab, Homa, Azur and FRVR. YouTube Playables is free on the YouTube app and website.
A wide range of engines and frameworks support game development for the platform. The supported tools include:
Developer ecosystem and featured partners
Developer access is in early access, requiring studios to apply through an interest form. Voodoo and CrazyLabs are among the developers featured on YouTube Playables. YouTube also highlights popular Playables from SayGames, Supercent, Supersonic, Playgama, TapNation and other studios.
Several titles have achieved significant play counts. Supersonic’s Tall Man Run, a gate-picking runner game, has passed 106 million plays. Other mobile games like Build A Queen, Snake Clash and Stealth Master have collectively exceeded 90 million plays on YouTube.
In May 2024, Google publicly announced adding 75 Playables to YouTube and supporting them in seven initial markets. Those markets were the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, India, Malaysia and Türkiye. Highlighted titles at that time included Angry Birds Showdown, Cut The Rope, Tomb of the Mask, Trivia Crack and Words of Wonders. YouTube added live-streaming and chat features to Playables in September 2025.
AI-powered creation tool in beta
In late 2025, YouTube launched a closed beta for its AI-powered Playables Builder. The tool uses Gemini 3 to let creators generate playable games from text, image, or video prompts. The beta is currently limited to creators in the US, Canada, Great Britain, and Australia. Access requires an active YouTube channel and application approval.
Google plans to test in-app purchase solutions for Playables in 2027. The AI Playables Builder beta is slated for a broader rollout later in 2025. No further official updates on Playables have been released since September 2025.
