August's Top Mobile Game Downloads Revealed
Appmagic data shows Roblox and Free Fire Max led downloads again, while Gangstar Mirage City and Bus Traffic Fever made big gains.

Roblox and Free Fire Max were the top two most downloaded mobile games globally in August, according to data from Appmagic. Both titles saw a slight dip in downloads month-on-month but maintained a significant lead over the rest of the chart.
Subway Surfers jumped four places to third after its best month for installs since January, with just over 15 million downloads. Block Blast also saw around 15 million downloads.
Chart Movements and Declines
The story was different for Arrow Puzzle. After a rapid rise to the top of the charts following its late 2025 launch, it tailed off in August to just over 13 million downloads. Ludo King held sixth place but recorded its third straight month of declining installs.
Tencent's Gangstar Mirage City made a major impact despite a limited launch. The GTA-like open-world game, which launched on August 20 outside most major Western markets, racked up over 12 million installs in under two weeks to claim seventh place. Mobilegamer.biz notes that Tencent is reportedly still working on a 'proper' western launch for the game.
New Entries and Record Breakers
Japanese studio Goodroid's Bus Traffic Fever leapt into eighth spot, setting a new record with around 13 million installs in August. The hybridcasual game, which only launched properly in March, has also generated nearly $6.3 million in in-app purchases according to Appmagic.
Turkish developer Grand Games claimed two top ten places. Its puzzle game Magic Sort broke the 10 million download barrier for the first time, landing in ninth. Its other title, Block Out, also reached that milestone, having seen rapid growth every month since it began scaling in March.
The Rest of the Top 20
The lower half of the top 20 saw significant movement, particularly for sports titles following the World Cup. Learnings' Amaze Go dropped out of the top ten to 11th place with 10 million downloads. Football League 2026, EA FC Mobile, and eFootball all dropped several spots after peaking in July.

Voodoo's Mob Control rose five places to 16th. Mystery Dumpling: Unbox ASMR, described as more of a collectibles plaything than a game, was new to the listings. Pizza Ready and Candy Crush Saga also saw notable gains, rising five and ten places respectively. Learnings' Vita Mahjong fell out of the top 20 after a long run among the top performers. The Appmagic estimates do not include data from China's Android market.
